LLC Member Spotlight: Alain Gauthier

Our 2010 February Member Spotlight shines on Alain Gauthier, Executive Director of Core Leadership Development. Alain has been an invaluable and member of the Leadership Learning Community for many years: participating on the Creating Space design team; facilitating a World Café at Creating Space VIII in Baltimore; and currently serves as a member of the Leadership for a New Era initiative Advisory Committee, just to name a few. Alain is passionate about integrating the inner and outer dimensions of human experience, both at the individual and collective levels. Following a global exploratory study of integrative leadership development programs for multi-sector participants – that connect individual to organizational and societal learning – in 2009, he invited several other senior consultants, researchers and educators to co-found The Global Transforming Ensemble.

As an Ensemble, their specific commitment is to contribute to the emergence, development, and growing influence of an awareness-based, love-infused, presence-centered leadership in communities and organizations across all sectors of society around the globe – amidst the crucial shifts and shocks impacting the world today. The Ensemble’s belief is that such enlivening leadership – which is deeply connected to one’s higher self, others, the larger whole, and nature – is already at work in various parts of the world; however, it needs to be more consciously practiced and collectively disseminated – through personal contacts, exchanges and larger-scale experiments – in order to reach a tipping point in humanity’s evolutionary journey.

The vision of The Global Transforming Ensemble is to have identified, connected, and supported at least one million people worldwide by December 2012 – who experience, nourish and develop enlivening leadership, and thus enhance their community well-being and societal transformation. Their approach is to involve, connect, and support community and organizational leaders in self-assessment, action-research, practice-based development, and experimentation activities – through a web-enabled enlivening leadership commons interface and like-spirited networks. They are in the process of identifying a first circle of such leaders and communities who are willing to share experiences and experiments, while developing an evolutionary body of individual and collective practices that will support and augment their work.
