LLC Welcomes 3 New Board Members

We are pleased to announce the expansion of our board of directors.  After an open and transparent selection process, in which LLC members served on a nominations committee and the entire community was invited to nominate candidates, three highly qualified candidates were selected: Grady McGonagill, Cecilia Roddy and LaDon James. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our selection committee:  Diane McCarthy Johnson, Jim Krile, Sonia Ospina, Ashok Regmi and Pauline Vela, and to introduce our new board members.

Grady McGonagill: Since 1982 Grady has been President of McGonagill Associates, an organizational consulting and management development firm specializing in building capacity for learning and change.  He brings extensive experience to LLC in development of leadership capacity at all levels of an organization, through the design and delivery of programs that integrate ongoing learning about the personal, interpersonal, and systemic dimensions of leadership with day-to-day work challenges.  He is committed to learning cultures and has helped organizations identify, develop, and institutionalize the mindsets and skills conducive to a climate of ongoing self-initiated learning and support for the learning of others.  In addition to bringing this expertise, Grady will be able to help LLC strengthen its learning from and influence in the corporate sector where he has worked and taught for 25 years.

Cecilia Roddy: Cecilia has had first hand experience with LLC working on a 2-year leadership evaluation project for the Packard and the Gates Foundations.  She worked for eight years at Development Guild, where she provided fundraising consulting services to nonprofit organizations, and recruited top -level development professionals for local, regional, and national organizations.  She has a deep understanding of the nonprofit sector and both the challenges and opportunities for building sustainable organizations.  Cecilia recently took a position as Vice President of Development and External Affairs for the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps – a nonprofit dedicated to helping at-risk children and their families rebuild their lives.  RFK Children’s Action Corps has established and runs a Leadership Institute that develops future leadership and promotes opportunities for continued learning.

LaDon James: LaDon is National Field Manager at the Center for Progressive Leadership (CLP) a national nonprofit training institute dedicated to developing the next generation of progressive political leaders and activists.  In addition to fostering leadership, she also coordinated strategies to ring voices of America to the electoral process through civic engagement. Before this LaDon was a lead community organizer where she unified parents and students on curriculum, facilities and environmental justice.  LaDon is chair of the Algebra Project and the recipient of numerous leadership awards, including Leadership for a Changing World, Women of the Year by Ms. Magazine, and Shirley Chisholm Lights of Freedom.   LaDon brings a dual perspective to the LLC board, that of leaders on the ground as well as that of organizational intermediaries supporting leaders on the ground.
