On Social Change…

As part of the Management Assistance Group’s Network Leadership Innovation Lab, a new case study has been released that focuses on highly effective network leader, and social justice pioneer, Sarita Gupta of Jobs with Justice. The IISC Blog follows the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network’s annual conference, Rising Beyond the Challenge, where race and racism are explored as the backdrop for social change work. Cultural competence was a primary focus at the recent AEA national conference, causing us to revisit at the 2011 publication, the American Evaluation Association Statement on Cultural Competence in Evaluation.

On Social Media and Nonprofits…

Beth’s Blog features a guest post by Barbara Munoz who writes on the Packard Voices for Utah Children project, and the social media strategies that emerged to bolster awareness of and engagement in the project. Social media culture and best practices are also explored in Debra Askanase’s article which draws on the 2012 Nonprofit Social Network Benchmark Report.

On Nonprofits and Data…

The recently released NTEN State of Nonprofit Data Report shows findings from nonprofits surveyed about their relationships with data. Beth Kanter writes on the barriers nonprofits face in their data collection endeavors. The NTEN report echoes themes from Kanter’s book ”Measuring the Networked Nonprofit” and highlights the importance of measuring outcomes, enabling nonprofits to make data-driven decisions. The Philantopic blog shares the launch of Issue Lab, an open repository of data reports from foundations and nonprofits.
