Leadership Development

Background in leadership development (Education and/or Experience):

Our consulting firm has been retained by the following organizations to assist them in developing leadership award and development programs: (1) PolicyLink (for the William and Flora Hewlitt Foundation: We researched and developed recommendations for leadership development for people of color engaged in advocacy work. This resulted in the report: Leadership for Policy Change: Strengthening Communities of Color Through Leadership Development http://putnamcic.com/pdf/LeadershipforPolicyChange-PolicyLink.pdf . (2)The James Irvine Foundation: (a) We conducted an environmental scan of nonprofit leadership award programs, and element of award program design. This resulted in the report, Leadership Recognition Programs: A Scan of the Field http://putnamcic.com/pdf/LeadershipRecognitionPrograms_AScanoftheField.pdf . (b) Irvine retained Putnam to help them design the James Irvine Foundation Leadership Awards Program http://www.irvine.org/leadershipAwards/ . (c) Irvine asked Putnam to conduct site visits with the finalists during the first year of their Leadership Awards Program. Recommendations from these site visits contributed to the final selection of award recipients. (3) The California Endowment: Putnam worked with TCE to conduct an environmental scan and make recommendations for the creation of leadership development grantmaking opportunities. This included a focus on boundary crossing leadership, grassroots leadership, emerging leadership, leadership and organizational capacity building, and health leadership
