Creating Space is Leadership Learning Community’s annual national (un)convening that offers a different approach to where knowledge comes from and how it is generated. Since 2000, we have gathered over 1,000 social and racial justice agents, funders and leadership practitioners from across the country to exchange ideas, expand their networks and grow together in community.
About the Creating Space Experience
During Creating Space, we go to great lengths to honor the wisdom that exists within the community. Each year, we work with a creative and diverse design team, who leverage their lived experience and expertise to ensure that we work at the edge of where the leadership field needs to go. It is our goal to facilitate generative learning that centers leaderships that is happening on the grassroots level and within community.
At Creating Space, you can expect to:
- Build relationships and experience mutual support from community in a space that is liberating and comforting
- Discuss a variety of topics (ex. dismantling systemic racism, the importance of racial equity in leadership development work, the power of networked leadership) that address the needs of attendees and their communities
- Interact with funders and grantees, grassroots community activists, and nonprofit professionals all invested in the transformative power of leadership development
- Be vulnerable, find answers, ask questions, and consider what it really means to create space
"Creating Space provides a unique opportunity to actually learn and apply new thinking gleaned from leaders that are catalytic to change and whose ideas fly under the radar."
