Coalition LA
Coalition LA’s (COLA) mission is to benefit the lives of residents of Los Angeles' most diverse, low and moderate income neighborhoods by: * Facilitating ways for residents to take collective action * creating cross-cultural relationships * Developing new leaders and active residents * Providing leadership training * Facilitating civic and electoral involvement The neighborhoods where Coalition LA does its work have been overwhelmed by horrendous living conditions in the form of slum housing and few open spaces, unemployment, poor education, crime and disenfranchisement. For these issues to be addressed the residents of these areas must cross cultural boundaries, overcome immigration fears, become informed about how to make changes in their neighborhoods, become involved in actions, vote, and hold the government accountable. By keeping in regular contact with our constituencies through house visits, we are kept up-to-date about the issues that are the most important to the residents of our districts. All of our non-partisan campaigns and actions arise as a result of the ongoing contact that we make with them.
